Coming up on Mosen at Large 194, Aira comes to the Envision smart glasses, we’re counting down to new iPhones, and we conclude our discussion on literacy in a blindness context
Kia ora Mosen at Largers. Here’s what’s coming up in our next two-hour show that’s got the blind community talking.
Since the demise of Aira’s own smart glasses, many have been hoping that the Envision Smart Glasses would connect with Aira. Now it has happened. This is an exciting prospect for those who love to use the Aira visual interpreting service hands free with a wide-angle camera, and it adds further functionality to Envision’s hands-free visual platform. It doesn’t seem like it, but it’s been a couple of years since we caught up with Karthik Kannan from Envision, and a lot has happened since then. He joins me this week to talk about the collaboration with Aira and much more.
Apple has announced its Far Out event for 7 September. We look ahead and discuss remaining issues with iOS 16. If you have any thoughts on what you’d like to see in the iPhone 14 range or how you’re finding iOS 16, you’d be very welcome to share them.
We have so many thoughts on either side of the literacy discussion we’ve been having over the last couple of episodes, that we could discuss this for an entire episode and still have a lot of material left. I’m going to compile a representative sample of what we’ve received for this week, then bring that discussion to a close as I think we’ve gone as far as we can on what for some is a highly charged issue. Thanks to all who have taken the time to express an opinion.
This week’s episode will be the last to have transcripts sponsored by our grant from InternetNZ. The transcripts have become very important to me given the response I have received from the DeafBlind community, so I’ll share with you how we’ll keep them going starting next month.
There’s plenty more on the show as well. If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. What makes Mosen At Large special is the global community we’ve built and all the perspectives we share with each other.
