Coming up on Mosen at Large 221, register for our webinar about the future of Mosen at Large, the Be My Eyes Virtual Volunteer, and new speakers from Sonos

Kia ora Mosen at Largers. Here’s what’s coming up in our next two-hour show that’s got the blind community talking.

On 8 April US and UK time, I have an announcement to make about the future of this podcast. If you’ve not done so yet, you can register to attend the live webinar where I will make the announcement. If you’re unable to make it, I’ll make highlights available afterwards.

Be My Eyes is one of the most loved apps in the blind community. Available for both iOS and Android, it connects sighted volunteers with blind people who’d like visual assistance. It also provides services from a range of companies. The company has a closed beta underway of a new product powered by Chat GPT. It’s known as Virtual Volunteer, they say it’s a game changer. This week, it’s my pleasure to catch up once again with Hans Wiberg, who founded Be My Eyes, and the company’s CEO, Mike Buckley. We’ll discuss aspects of the Be My Eyes service in general including its business model, areas in which they may expand, and of course I’ll ask plenty of questions about Virtual Volunteer.

It’s been a big week for Sonos, the popular multiroom high-fi speaker company. Compatible speakers can now play Dolby Atmos music direct on Sonos, and they’ve launched a new family of products with two new speakers. I’ll give you my first impressions of the Sonos Era 300. If you’ve bought one, I’d love to know what you think.

We have reactions to the Optima interview from last week, questions about how to improve English when it is a second language, as well and more questions about improving Braille reading speed.

Note, the next episode after this coming one will be published a day earlier than normal due to the webinar and the information contained in it.

There’s plenty more on the show as well. If you want to raise something new, you’re very welcome. Please don’t be shy, I’d love to hear from you. What makes Mosen At Large special is the global community we’ve built and all the perspectives we share with each other.
